It’s Spring in Chicago but It’s still Pissing with Rain in the Bay Area…

Jon and I had the day off today and since it was going to rain all day, turning California into a landscape of mudslides, sink holes and puddles, Jon and I decided to tear out the carpet in one of our rooms. We had seen this floor covering at Home Depot that, according to the Home Depot guy was as easy as pie to click together yourself, so we were mega inspired.

Since it was President’s Day, demolition just sounded appropriate and fitting.

Under the carpet and padding there emerged a red (!) concrete floor, and strangely, we found a lot of sand, the kind you see on beaches. Jon scratched his head and wondered whether the kids had brought in sand from their sandbox years ago, but that seemed a little far-fetched.

We then realized that the floor is uneven and that we need to have the floor leveled before we can put any floor covering on, so now we moved our bed back in again and the place looks like we’re squatting it. Also, with the red floor, the right lighting and a mirror on the ceiling it could serve as a rad bordello, the kind where you may pay less but are bound to walk away with some hidden disease that’ll flare up with rashes, itching or worse.

Now we’re broken: backache. Jon’s grabbing for aspirin and I feel like a drink but have decided not to drink any more during the week, so I’m looking at my nails, watching the rain and pondering what I will find at work tomorrow. My career seems to be going nowhere and I’m utterly bored. First World Problems, I know, but I have no other news, other than that Frankie has fully recovered and is eating like a horse.

Life is good, though a little sun might be nice.

Good luck with your week!
